Overview
In this fascinating look at one man's quest to solve an obscure and ancient riddle, Butler shows that an ancient civilization knew Jupiter was the solar system's largest planet and the earth was round, and that they had even developed their own self-correcting calendar.
Synopsis
When author Alan Butler discovered a 15-centimeter clay disc in a museum in Crete, he set out to unravel the mystery of the spiral by hieroglyphs inscribed on each side. The discovery of this Phaistos Disc crystallized Butlers previous convictions that Bronze Age peoples in Europe had been excellent mathematicians and astronomers.
