PHYLLIS J. VAN ORDEN, a consultant, is former Director, Graduate School of Library and Information Science, University of Washington, Seattle. She was named a Lillian Bradshaw Scholar at Texas Woman's University and has received the Blackwell North America Scholarship Award.

KAY BISHOP is Associate Professor and Director of the School Media Program, Department of Library and Information Studies, School of Informatics, University at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York.
