Audience: The intended audience includes anyone preparing to take the examination.
Features: The book begins with the basics of echocardiography physics and progresses to explain normal transthoracic and transesophageal examinations. Doppler and tissue strain are covered with adequate detail before the book progresses into chapters arranged around various cardiac pathologies (aortic valve disease, congenital heart disease, etc.). Particularly helpful are the images on the accompanying CD-ROM and linked directly to the text. Each chapter begins with review questions and finishes with multiple board-style questions and a discussion of the correct answers.
Assessment: This is an excellent review for anyone preparing for the ASCeXAM. It provides concise and helpful review chapters as well as practice board questions on all of the anatomic, hemodynamic, and pathologic aspects pertinent to echocardiography.
