The Complex Forest: Communities, Uncertainty, and Adaptive Collaborative Management

Working in Indonesia in 1998 with the Center for International Forestry Research, which co-published this volume, Colfer and her colleagues developed the adaptive collaborative management approach to sustainable forest management. Here she describes how practitioners are using the approach at 33 sites in 11 countries, and systematically compares results.
