Synopsis
Sets out the arithmetical rules that are involved in carrying out a life cycle assessment study. The authors (Leiden University) present a basic computational model for inventory analysis, explore how perturbation theory can be applied to statistically deal with uncertainty, and develop mathematical techniques for performing life cycle impact assessment and interpretation. Alternative methods for formulating the inventory problem and the basic principles of input- output analysis are also discussed. An appendix reviews the operations of matrix algebra.
