Marilyn Courtot - Children's Literature
All the familiar things associated with this kid-pleasing holiday are counted down from 10. There are 10 rows of pumpkins, 9 bales of hay, 6 black bats, 3 tables of treats, 2 party games and 1 full moon leading up to a great Halloween party. There is nothing particularly scary in this counting book but it does introduce many of the symbols and traditions associated with this holiday. The rhyming text is nothing outstanding and the illustrations are actually more interesting. Useful for those who want an inexpensive holiday book. 2003, Price Stern Sloan, Ages 2 to 4.
