Editorials

From The Critics

Reviewer: Lisa M. Richardson, CDA(University of Chicago Medical Center)
Description: This sixth edition book describes dental assisting and many of the subjects that dental assisting involves.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide the knowledge and skills needed to become a dental assistant. The book is a very needed tool and the authors' objectives have been met.
Audience: This book is written for the dental assistant student, a person being trained on the job, or the dental assistant who wants to increase his or her knowledge of the subject. The authors seem to have the knowledge and experience to be able to write about the subject.
Features: This book has many illustrations, both color and black-and-white photos. They offer the reader a look at the techniques and the many dental instruments and materials that are used. The overall appearance of the book is very professional, and the photos and illustrations are the most valuable part of the book.
Assessment: This is a very useful book for the study of dental assisting. The book is of high quality and substance. This edition of the book offers new information on dental specialties, OSHA regulations, infectious diseases, and management of the dental office. I would recommend that the book be placed in the library so that people interested in the subject can read and study it.
