A Keogh is a tax-deferred pension plan for the self-employed and permits contributions of up to 25 percent (or a maximum of $30,000) of earned income. This guide systematically outlines the complexities of Keogh plans. Chapters include a general survey of available plans, annual contributions, investing, insurance, retirement benefits, and taxation. Cheeks's description and explanation of Keoghs is easily understood and not overly technical. His mathematical examples are fully explained and illustrated. A chapter on managing the Keogh plan is one of the best features of the book. Although this is actually an update of Cheeks's Keoghs: Keys to Security & Wealth ( LJ 4/15/86), it is nevertheless a welcome and current source for public, college, and professional libraries.-- Arthur J. Lieb, formerly with Library of CongressBook Details
