Synopsis

The story of mountain boy, Hod Pierce, who grew up in Piney Ridge, just as seven generations did before him. Though he loves his family and their simple way of life, he yearns for the freedom he imagines in the outside world. World War II takes him far from the hills of Kentucky, but he carries memories of those slow, sleepy days for comfort. When the war ends, Hod makes his home in the bustling city of Louisville, determined to find happiness in his job in the factory and with his new wife, Mary. But his ways are not city ways, and Hod realizes he must either learn to adjust or convince his city-bred wife that life is better in the remote Piney Ridge hills.
