Booknews

A textbook for undergraduate and graduate students of Earth sciences. It provides a history of the Earth which enables students to gain an integrated overview of the many different aspects of Earth sciences. The author assesses the evidence from the geological record of the role of plate tectonics in continental development from 4 Ga to the present. This edition (second was 1984) is largely rewritten--the section on the Precambrian and Paleozoic orogens is completely new--and most references have been updated to encompass research of the past decade.
