Overview

A hilarious, illustrated account of life in the previously sleepy town of Tofino, during the heated controversy over the proposed logging of BC’s Clayoquot Sound. The Green Shadow, which appeared in the Georgia Straight, earned Struthers a 1995 National Magazine Award for Humour and a nomination for two 1995 Western Magazine Awards.

The Green Shadow is Number 3 in the Transmontanus series edited by Terry Glavin. In 2004, Struthers published a followup to this story, The Last Voyage of the Loch Ryan.

About the Author, Andrew Struthers

A native of Glasgow, Scotland, Andrew Struthers now lives in Victoria, BC with his daughter Pasheabel, where he works as a writer and filmmaker. His accounts of Clayoquot protests won him a National Magazine Award for humour and were published in book form as The Green Shadow. A frequent contributor to the Vancouver Sun, Monday Magazine, and Western Living, he has also written plays, shot four short films, sold three feature film screenplays, and made an ill–advised solo assault on the Tibetan face of Everest.
