Overview

The Honey Plain is a comic romance whose hero, Dermot O'Duffy, is a lecturer who specializes in love in early Irish literature. However, he makes a woeful muddle of love in his own life. His marriage is unhappy and his efforts to find solace elsewhere have landed him with the reputation of a philanderer. Ironically, despite his easy way with women, Dermot has yet to find true and enduring love. When he meets the American, Grania, an aspiring painter, his life changes. They fall in love. But Dermot's wife, Fiona, and her prosperous farmer father, "Big" Finn, are less than pleased, and they chase Dermot and Grania across the country in a mad, hilarious romp.
