The term 'visual culture' crops up everywhere. But what does it mean? Could we say there is a deluge of images? Does this threaten other cultural assets, such as the word? The Netherlands Foto Institut (NFI) invited six writers and academics to write essays on these issues in order to stimulate discussion about images and visual culture.
