Synopsis

Composer Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) explores the meaning and wonder of music. In a series of "Imaginary Conversations," he addresses such topics as the greatness of Beethoven and the importance of the symphony in America. The book also contains seven transcripts from Bernstein's Omnibus television show as well as assorted b&w photographs from his performances.
