Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung

The change of seasons is the topic of this book from the "Rookie Preschool: My First Rookie Reader" series. Follow a little girl and her dog as they explore the changes of the season. The tree begins with its green foliage which changes to autumn colors and ends with snow on its limbs. Besides the seasonal changes of the tree, children can identify other differences like the weather and a few other seasonal signs. Colorful, cheery pictures illustrate the story throughout the book. Patterned and repeated text describes the different seasons; the focus is more on autumn and winter. The book includes a page with some ideas and tips for adults who are sharing the story with the children. Learning vocabulary, practicing counting, and observing changes are just some of the other ways to explore the book. Other books in the series cover different topics that are suitable for preschoolers; early readers may enjoy reading the story. Early childhood consultants have provided guidance for the "Rookie Preschool" series. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
