Children's Literature
This translation of the 23rd Psalm gives the sense of the psalm in words small children will understand. A lamb, reminiscent of Sherry Lewis' puppet Lambchops, is pictured as the central character. The watercolor illustrations never show the shepherd's face, but show that part of the body, such as legs, hands, and feet, that are close to the sheep. Wolves with yellow eyes represent danger peering out of the woods, in windows, and in the valley. "Even in the darkest valley, I am not afraid. No evil can come to me. Your shepherd's rod and staff make me feel safe." The lamb looks happy, safe, and secure in the Shepherd's care. Young children will enjoy having this book read again and again.
