Children's Literature -
It's the year 1250 and King Henry III is the ruler of England. Most of the English people live in the countryside, although merchants and craftspeople often live in towns. The people live in cottages that have dirt floors and thatched roofs. There is a fire burning in the middle of the room that provides warmth, and candles provide light. The candles are made from animal fat that has been saved. The beds are mattresses filled with straw and thrown on the ground. Children like our guides, Robin, Isobel, and Tom must help their parents with chores like feeding the animals and bringing water from the well. This series, "My World" is an excellent introduction to days of yore for the early grades. A brief index is included.Book Details
