The Orphaned Adult

In this compassionate work, Rabbi Marc Angel addresses a universal but largely overlooked phenomenon: adult orphanhood. This book presents a thoughtful discussion of the processes of adult orphanhood, including anticipating the death of a parent, mourning the parent, and internalizing the reality of the parent's death.

The Rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel, the historic Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue of New York, Marc D. Angel received his B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. from Yeshiva University; rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University; and an M.A. in English Literature from the City College of New York. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of DIvinity degree from Yeshiva University in 1992. Rabbi Angel has authored and edited fourteen books, including Voices in Exile: A Study in Sephardic Intellectual History, and a collection of essays, edited by his son, Hayyim, entitled Seeking Good, Speaking Peace. Rabbi Angel and his wife, Gilda, have three children: Hayyim, Ronda, and Elana.
