School Library Journal

These three volumes present a tantalizingly simple amount of information. Impossible Quests features the Loch Ness Monster, Atlantis, the lost continent of gold in the South Pacific, the search for Noah's Ark, and various escapes from Alcatraz. The Pharoah's Curse is the most compelling and scariest of the three. It recounts all different kinds of coincidental problems encountered by mummy seekers and grave robbers in different time periods. Creepy Castles will satisfy the ever-present demand for good ghost stories. All are illustrated with relatively ordinary black-and-white drawings; all have fairly decent bibliographies. Writing is not overly sensationalized or complex, and there is a nice dose of the macabre in each short chapter. --Leslie Chamberlin, Napa City-County Library, CA
