Description: This book encompasses the process of career planning and interviewing skills directed for those individuals in the field of pharmacy. Highlights of this book include sample resumes, curriculum vitae, letters (i.e., inquiry, acceptance) and interviewing basics such as strategies, etiquette and questions that an interviewer may pose at the time of an interview. It also includes career options in pharmacy, Internet sources for position listings and a list of professional organizations regarding residencies and fellowships.
Purpose: The main purpose of this book is to assist individuals in the field of pharmacy such as technicians, pharmacy students, new graduates, residents and/or veteran pharmacists in obtaining employment by walking them through the process of writing resumes, CVs, letters and interviewing. The book is worthwhile since it is unique for those in the field of pharmacy and does meet the author's objective.
Audience: The book is directed to all individuals in the field of pharmacy whether in hospital, community, academia, etc. As stated above, this includes technicians, pharmacy students, new graduates, residents, and veteran pharmacists. The author has credible authority in this topic since he is a veteran pharmacist, pharmacy educator, and employer.
Features: The contents include guidelines for preparing resumes, CVs, letters and interview skills. One attractive component of this book is that sample documents and questions are included. There is an appendix that lists references that can be used for career planning, preparation of resumes, CVs, letters, and honing interviewing skills.
Assessment: Since there are probably not a lot, if any, career planning books geared towards pharmacy, this book is needed and worthwhile for those in the field. Speaking from experience, this book will definitely assist in the process of preparing for a career in pharmacy.
