Overview

This is an excellent introduction to the Western Mystery Tradition and the symbolism of the Qabalah. Discusses pathworking procedures of Qabalah in light of the archetypes of Jungian psychology, showing how to work with dreams and visualization to help better communicate with yourself and others.

Synopsis

Practical Qabalah offers an exciting and modern introduction to the qabalah that combines Jungian psychology and the Western Mystery tradition with the esoteric symbolism of the Tree of Life. The Tree describes several paths to self-realization. The author discusses the Tree of Life in light of Jungian archetypes and shows you how you can work with dreams, visualization and ritual to help you get in touch with your self and help you relate to others. The focal point of the book is pathworking: the process of calling upon the energies symbolized by the Tree to effect creative change in yourself and in the world. Fielding discusses the four kinds of qabalistic symbolism:

  • Dogmatic Qabalah: the literature of the system
  • Literal Qabalah: the letters and their numeric value
  • Practical Qabalah: which deals with ceremonial magic
  • The Unwritten Qabalah: the attribution of symbols on the Tree of Life

Fielding also discusses personality, karma and reincarnation, the inner planes, etheric bodies, chakras and personal destiny. The book concludes with a practical, insightful look at ritual: how it works, what you need to know in order to practice, and how ritual can help you take charge of your life and learn why you are here.
