Gr 7-10-Two series titles that analyze and provide background for their respective historical periods. Both contain more information than average textbooks and serve as good launching points for further research. Corrick introduces the Renaissance, presenting the era from the perspectives of humanism and education, merchants and commerce, rulers and explorers, art and literature, and science and medicine. In each section, notable people and events are highlighted. Pietrusza focuses on the 1920s in the United States, examining the economy, Prohibition, controversial issues and scandals, culture, professional sports, and the causes for the Great Depression. Each book has a wealth of black-and-white illustrative material that is as informative as it is attractive.
