Synopsis
Slimy worms on the lawn,
Newts from ponds, and green frog-spawn.
This book oozes slippery, greasy, oily, sticky, yucky sliminess. Watch out for the intergalactic goo from Mars!

Frogs. Jelly. Butter. Baked Beans. Worms. Slugs. Snails. What do all of these things have in common? They are all slimy! This delightful picture book is all about slime. The story is written in prose, so it will be fun for parents and children to read over and over again. The pictures are delightful and capture the essence of slime quite well. (My personal favorite is the picture of the mother popping slimy bubble gum into the face of her son when he blows a bubble.) Every page is fun to look at because of the humor of the artist. The British text contains a couple of words with which American children will not be familiar, but they are well illustrated, and a short explanation will be sufficient to teach a child the new word. (for example, Loo is used instead of Toilet). This book is sure to become a favorite at home or at school. 2003 (orig. 1985), Red Fox, Ages 3 to 6.
