A mixture of informative text and tremendous illustrations are high points in this book about our solar system. A volume in the "21st Century Science" series, this book allows beginning readers an opportunity to delve into our solar system. Its many graphics and diagrams cover three main areas. Solar System, Planets and Satellites, and The Stars are further divided into sub topics. This very logical breakdown of such complex subjects has created a valuable addition to any library collection. The text gives short but thorough explanations of the various aspects of the solar system. The current photographs of our solar system are a definite plus, effectively showing young readers the enormity of space. As with the other volumes in this series, there are glossary, books, videos and website sections. While the recommended age for this book would be up to fourteen years, there is no question that older readers could also learn a great deal from this informative book. 2001, World Almanac Library, $29.27. Ages 6 to 14. Reviewer: John D. OrsbornBook Details
