The book can also be used by regular classroom teachers and principals who want to plan ahead for classroom absences, or by anyone who has to quickly cover a class.

About the Author, John Dellinger

John Dellinger taught in the public school systems of Riverside, California; Boulder, Colorado; Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and Denver, Colorado. After retiring from the Denver Public Schools, he continued to teach as a substitute in Denver and neighboring Jefferson County.

He is the author of two detective/mystery novels, Dinosaur Tracks & Murder and Homecoming to Murder, published as audio books by Books in Motion. He has had articles published in the following magazines: Vietnam, Grit,Wild West, Adventure West,World War II, Military History, Short Stuff, Historically Jeffco, The Retired Officer, Rocky Mountain Rider, Great Battles, and as part of “Soundings” in Air & Space/Smithsonian.

The Substitute Teaching Survival Guide, Grades 6–12: Emergency Lesson Plans and Essential Advice was published in 2005. The successful publication of that book led to the publishing of this book: The Substitute Teaching Survival Guide, Grades K–5: Emergency Lesson Plans and Essential Advice.

He holds degrees from two universities: a B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado and an M.A. from the University of Colorado.
