Synopsis

Kevin finds and old Scottish Drum - a Bodhran - which transports him to the Medieval past. With only the drum and a donkey for company he rescues a young nobleman from death at the hands of his uncle who covets his nephews realm. At the same time Kevin learns a great deal about himself and how to take charge of his own destiny.

Chuck Gregor

McCracken is reputed to teach so subtly that his youthful audience does not realize it is learning. It is hoped that this exciting time-slip mystery will imbue a love of learning that is so much a part of the reader's life that they will not remember any other way. It should, at the very least produce a healthy curiosity about past events and, at the same time, demonstrate the values of self-control and self-respect. But, more than that, and perhaps best of all -- The Time Drum is a good story!
