This is a fun story to read. Little Horse is a young colt who lives on a farm. He sees wonderful things all around him and eventually wants to roam farther from his home in the barn to places he has never been. With his parents close behind him, Little Horse ventures into the awaiting world of chasing birds, seeing waves in the sea and his reflection in a pool of water. Little Horse shows courage as he attempts to experience everything he comes upon. He has wise parents who urge him to follow his desire to roam and explore. The illustrations are awesome and pull the reader right into the book. They spread over two pages and the reader can actually feel Little Horse's emotions. The format is done in rhyme and flows easily when reading the story aloud. Children will definitely fall in love with Little Horse and want to read the story over and over again. The vocabulary is fun and the reader will see words like, "Whoosh," "Swish," and "Gallipity-Lip Gallipity-Lop." This is a great story to share with young children and will become a favorite to be read at bedtime. The book would be great gift. It belongs in homes where you find young children who are ready for adventure. 2005, Dutton Children's Books, Ages 4 to 6.
