Overview

THINKING AND WRITING IN THE HUMANITIES guides students through the process of planning, drafting, revising, and editing analytical and argument essays and research papers in the humanities. Writing in the humanities demands not only the basics of college-level composition but also instruction in the pursuit of critical inquiry. THINKING AND WRITING IN THE HUMANITIES provides a thorough, user-friendly handbook that challenges and stimulates students to attain high standards in their compositions in ways they find accessible and relevant. The text allows humanities instructors to present their students with challenging writing assignments and to expect focused, insightful papers in return without having to spend valuable class time teaching composition techniques.

Editorials

From the Publisher

"The authors' writing style and diction puts the reader at ease and demystifies the writing process."

"I was extremely impressed with the flow and general style of the text. It is obvious that the authors have spent a tremendous amount of time teaching and reflecting on the matter of good teaching. I was also impressed with the most helpful items... such as templates, check lists, topic suggestions and illustrations. I have had many students over the years that would have benefited from such organizational tools... The authors do an exceptional job and have produced a wonderful book that will most certainly assist many as they explore and experience the humanities."

"The text seems to take special care to make sure students understand the details of the writing process."

"The text is an exceptional resource for students to gain knowledge of and experience in expressing themselves in the area of the humanities. It provides wonderful examples, instruction, and information in the fields of the humanities and composition. This text is a MUST for teachers and students in the humanities."
