Cari Best won the Ezra Jack Keats Award for her first picture book, Taxi! Taxi!, and is the author of several others, including Last Licks. She lives in Weston, Connecticut. Giselle Potter has illustrated several picture books, including Gabriella's Song by Candace Fleming, which received numerous starred reviews and was an ALA Notable book. Her work frequently appears in The New Yorker. She lives in High Falls, New York.

Three Cheers for Catherine the Great is a singularly satisfying story. Why it even has a recipe for Russian borscht on the back cover..more cheers to it. A great read.
