Overview

The American journalist Albert Rhys Williams arrived in Russia in the middle of 1917 and witnessed the collapse of the old regime and the victory of the Great October Socialist Revolution. In those stormy months he saw the demonstrations of revolutionary masses, the storming of the Winter Palace and the triumphant march of Soviet power across the length of the country. His book Through the Russian Revolution tells about those events.

Williams met Lenin on a number of occasions, he spoke with him at a meeting and he had a chance to observe the great revolutionary leader in everyday work and life. He wrote about Lenin with great warmth in his book Lenin, the Man and His Work.

After another visit to the Soviet Union in 1931 he published the article "The Greatest Reception Room in the World", which is also devoted to Lenin.

This volume contains all these works by Albert Rhys Williams, revised by the author and supplied with an introduction he wrote for the Russian edition during his stay in the Soviet Union in 1959.
