School Library Journal

Gr 4-7-Libraries looking for sports biographies could do worse than to purchase these two series entries. Sanders and Thomas, both Oklahoma State University graduates, are established stars, currently competing in the NFL. While their lives are chronicled in a manner fairly typical to this genre, these books contain numerous, fully documented quotes from the respective players and their associates. Black-and-white photographs, highlighted facts and stats boxes, team addresses, and professional career statistics are included. Bill Gutman's Barry Sanders (Millbrook, 1993) is a glossier though less substantive treatment.-Tom S. Hurlburt, La Crosse Public Library, WI
