Flashy riders straddle motorbikes and hug turns while zipping over 100 miles an hour when they compete in the MotoGP high class form of motorcycle racing. Motocross riders take to off-road dirt courses on motorbikes specially built with 12 inches of give. These facts and many more are presented in this book from the "Motorsports" series. Several topics, ranging from early racing to races of today that go around the world, are covered in detail. Eleven two-page chapters follow a similar format. Each spread begins with an enticing paragraph sure to draw the reader in. Three or four more short paragraphs add information about the sport, as do additional captions and sidebars. The well-researched text, written at a fourth grade level, is tight and interesting. Crisp, bright photos capture the thrill of a race with close-ups of riders and their bikes. An 18 entry glossary, complete index, and a page featuring star motorcycle riders and websites is at the end of the book. With its wealth of number facts, the book is suited to use as a supplement to math lessons. This book, and others in the series, will satisfy readers who have trouble finding "interesting" books.
