About the Author, Alan S. Gurman

Laura Giat Roberto, Ph.D., Adjunct Associate Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Eastern Virginia Medical School, is a Clinical Teacher in the American Family Therapy Association and Approved Supervisor/Site Visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She has authored and coauthored numerous articles, books, and tapes on marital and family therapy and treatment of psychosomatic families, and lectures internationally on transgenerational family therapy technique. She is in private practice in Norfolk Virginia, where she lives with her husband and two children.
