Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich

This is a book without a story, but there are words everywhere. They appear on round colored circles on every page: Big Truck, Little Truck; Fast Truck, Slow Truck; and on signs such as SPEED LIMIT 35 and CAUTION LOW CEILING. There are six double-page spreads filled with color and action. As trucks pop up on roads, bridges, construction sites or at the recycling center, a little truck may run along a side road or a fire engine ladder may rise up the side of a building. There are so many things to see and talk about together. Each page has a different scene packed with action in vivid colors. The book also comes with an 18-by-44-inch poster with a map of the town illustrated in the book and, on the other side, a list of things to look for in the pictures such as trash cans or a pet alligator.
