Overview

This book focuses on the crucial political events of the last century, addressing much more than the struggle between communism and capitalism. The author gives major attention to the high level of violence in Europe, and weaves together the overarching themes of the struggle for hegemony, the establishment of common economic and political institutions, the affirmation of social democracy, and the stunning advance of science.
