Doody Review Services

Reviewer:Alissa M Morley, BS(Froedtert Hospital)
Description:This is a good reference for clinicians ordering exams according to patient presentation.
Purpose:The purpose is to provide a reference for clinicians to refine their diagnostic algorithms.
Audience:It is written for any healthcare provider with a specific interest in urology and/or sonography.
Features:The book covers the chief urogenital complaints as they are encountered at the point of care. It divides these complaints into chapters where differentials are discussed in detail with pertinent information and corresponding images. This structure is unique and aids in making it a quick clinical reference. The only disappointment is the quality of images. Some images containing pathology have been efficiently documented on newer equipment. Updated images are available and should be used in this book.
Assessment:This book is useful for health professionals dealing with patients with urogenital complaints. It is also a good resource for professionals involved in all aspects of radiology.

Booknews

Advances in sonography present a challenge to clinicians in selecting the most appropriate imaging tool for evaluating patients' urological problems. Based on a 1996 Radiological Society meeting at which two of the editors conducted a course on ultrasound, these 16 chapters cover sonographic techniques, anatomy, and findings; clinical summary information; differential diagnostic considerations; and technical and interpretative errors. Includes color and b&w Doppler images. Dr. Bluth is in the department of radiology at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. Other contributors hail from US medical schools coast-to-coast. Annotation c.
