Based on longtime teaching of introduction to Judaism courses, Breslauer (U. of Kansas) offers a stimulating though consciously less than comprehensive approach to the history and critical issues central to Judaism in its formative to postmodern periods. Includes discussion questions, further readings, timelines, other boxed material, and a glossary of terms highlighted in the text. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
