Overview
This 1927 publication stressed the importance of matching woodwork to the style of the home under construction. Featured items include illustrations of French doors, windows and sashes, blinds, colonnades, fireplaces, bookcases and window seats, radiator covers, sideboards and buffets, wardrobes, pergolas, and other interior and exterior elements. 326 black-and-white plates, many with multiple designs.Synopsis
The Universal Catalog Bureau, credited with authorship of this catalog originally titled the Universal Design Book No. 25 on Builder's Woodwork, was likely a marketing group of Farley & Loetscher and other American manufacturing companies. Their catalog, featuring cabinetry, doorframes, stairways, mantels, wall paneling, and the like, seems to have been aimed at female consumers rather than building professionals and focused almost exclusively on the needs of the "modest home."
