Overview

Space shortages have become a common experience for many academic librarians. This book provides a variety of information and ideas on physical planning for those who are considering building either a new library or an extension to an existing building. Edwards gives an overview of factors influencing change in libraries and looks at the qualities desirable in any good building. Case studies of successful library buildings are drawn from the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. Lavishly illustrated with photographs, floor plans, and diagrams.
