Since 1988, the nationally televised program Unsung Heroes, produced by Richardson, has profiled individuals and groups who have sought to make the world a better place. Here Richardson has collected 36 short accounts of ordinary people who have made a difference in children's lives, overcome disabilities, and sacrificed time and money to help others. Some, such as Ryan White, have gained national prominence, while others are little known outside their own communities.
