The end of Cold War provided new opportunities for improving relations between the US and India. Indian adherence to democratic path, secularism, free market economy and above all the vast consumer market attracted the Americans. India also relinquished its non-aligned polity as there were no more two super powers. Pakistan has been sidetracked and the US is now India's largest trading partner.
