The volume begins with an illustrated biography accompanied by non-floral and floral paintings with one chapter each devoted to the following: bouquets, flowering trees, irises, sunflowers, and fields. Throughout the text are Vincent's quotes, like this one from 1885: "I study nature, so as not to do foolish things, to remain reasonable."
