Purpose: The purpose is to provide a guide for both experienced and inexperienced perioperative nurses in the various practice settings that serve the vascular patient. This book is a needed and valuable resource.
Audience: The population for whom it is intended is both experienced and inexperienced perioperative nurses who practice in various settings that serve the vascular patient. Any practitioners, such as nurses, student nurses, or surgical technologists seeking more knowledge about vascular patients/procedures will find step-by-step guidelines for a plan of care and clinical decision making.
Features: There is a good balance between text and illustrations. Each chapter is thoroughly referenced with recent literature and current articles.
Assessment: This is an excellent resource for experienced nurses as well as novice perioperative caregivers in the field of vascular surgery. As experienced perioperative nurses in the vascular field, we found the information expanded our current knowledge and reinforced our standards of practice. We believe operating room educational services should provide this resource to staff to aid in the continuing education of healthcare delivery team members. One area that we felt could use improvement was the numbering of illustrations, which sometimes proved confusing. However, we found the pictures to be clear, sharp, and accurate representations.
