Library Journal

This collection of novellas about World War II covers such diverse topics as the Battle of Bloody Ridge on the island of Guadalcanal in 1942, an OSS operation, and the thoughts of a German officer as he returns home from captivity in late 1945. The authors include Coonts, Harold Coyle, and even the late Harold Robbins, among others. Each volume has the same introduction, written by Coonts, and two novellas read by either Eric Conger or Ron McLarty. There is quite a bit of action in these works, and the narrators, save for some trouble with acronyms and foreign accents, are competent. Public libraries should consider.-Michael T.
