The liberal use of the subject's words and points of view adds immediacy and promotes understanding of his personality. While not strictly chronological, the narrative gives readers a full picture of this outstanding young adult author. The layout is bland with no illustrations or photographs, but the writing is engaging and the text is succinct and clear. Some teens may be put off by the book's lack of visual appeal, but the writing will pull them in.
