Synopsis

I Am Still Standing chronicles the suffering, tribulation, and joy of a sixteen-year-old Greek from the small rural village of Coutsoherra, Greece -- to the jails and concentration camps of Italy, through the horrors of war, and the fear of being a fugitive. The setting moves from Greece in the early 1940's to Italy by 1945, to Egypt, to Brazil, and then finally, the United States.

From his late teens into his twenties, Constantin Zotis has seen prisons, concentration camps, sinking ships, and the trials of a Greek immigrant in the United States after World War II. It is a story of human survival and perseverance that lifts one's spirits and begs the question, "If I can -- you can. The spirit is in us all."
