Synopsis

Babies and booksellers alike will be smiling at Wee Sing for Baby, sure to charm little ones and parents from wake through bedtime.

School Library Journal

PreSAnother in the popular Wee Sing series, this release contains 65 songs, rhymes, and action verses for babies and toddlers. As is a signature of Wee Sing, children are featured as the vocalists on nearly all the cuts. Most of the songs are less than a minute in length, and most are traditional songs and rhymes that are available in many other sources. This recording gathers them together, and seems well-suited to first time parents who have forgotten their Mother Goose. The children's chorus and child soloists are in fine voice. The musical accompaniment relying on synthesizers is too simple to be interesting. On a few cuts, and on several of the fine lullabies that close out the recording, adult voices are heard depicting mom or dad. Some of the songs have lyrics that may be a variant of what some parents know. for example, "Open, Shut Them" is now "Open Them, Shut Them." The accompanying booklet contains the music and lyrics to the songs, and the text of the rhymes. Engaging sketches of animals add child appeal to the booklet. Even though the musical accompaniment is tedious, the recording will circulate well at public libraries.Penny Peck, San Leandro Public Library, CA
