For those couples looking for a guidebook of truly romantic travel accommodations, this one provides a wide variety of choices. While most of the listings are for luxurious and expensive rooms (in the low- to mid-$100 range) in bed and breakfast establishments and hotels, a few offer rooms in private homes and cottages. Emphasis is on the rooms themselves and romantic accoutrements such as spas and fireplaces. Each chapter is prefaced by daytime diversions and recommended restaurants, and the text as a whole is accompanied by outstanding color photographs. Some of the areas included are Ashland and the Oregon Cascades, the Olympic Peninsula, and Southwest British Columbia. Although the guide is thorough, well researched, and beautifully illustrated, it is limited in scope because it concentrates on only one area. Not an essential purchase, but recommended for libraries in the region or those wishing to expand their travel collections.-- Lucille Corbo, MLS, Scranton, Pa.Book Details
