Westerly is a stunning coastal community located in Rhode Island's southwest corner. It is rich in history, being the first town incorporated in the King's Province and the fifth town in the colony. Author Joseph P. Soares, a local historian and a member of the Hopkinton and Westerly Historical Societies, has lived in Washington County his entire life. This is his second volume with Arcadia Publishing. It has been an honor for Soares to record for future generations some of Westerly's rich historic past.
