Overview

This Book Offers a Comprehensive Analysis of Catholic teachings on environmental themes by exploring official statements from Rome and the bishops of the Americas, as well as from contemporary visionary theologians.

Synopsis

In this timely and important work, John Hart offers an in-depth analysis of Catholic Church teachings on the environment and environmental themes. He explores the foundations and development of this thought, and provides an original presentation of essential elements of a wholistic environmental theology that interrelates concern for creation, community, and the common good.

In a clear and concise manner he presents and explores official statements from Rome from Vatican II onward, with flashbacks to earlier eras, and from national bishops in the Americas. And he focuses on writings and teachings of Native Americans and theologians in the U.S. and Latin America. On a practical level, he offers suggestions for reflection and action by individuals and communities.

About the Author, John Hart

John Hart was born and raised in North Carolina. For a time he practiced criminal defense law, but left his practice to write The King of Lies and work for a major Wall Street firm. John used to do foolish things, like fly helicopters and sail small boats across large oceans. Now, with two young daughters and a wife whom he loves, he writes books, which is harder but safer. John still makes his home in North Carolina.
